Who we are
ScrapCarWala runs scrapcarwala.in. We arrange pickups and paperwork for vehicles that are scrapped at government-registered vehicle scrapping facilities. You can reach us at hello@scrapcarwala.in.
What we collect
- Details you give us: your name, mobile number, pincode or area, vehicle number, car type, make, model, year and condition.
- Documents needed to scrap the vehicle, shared during the process: the RC, owner’s ID, loan NOC and bank details for payment.
- For partners: your business name and type, and details of the cars you refer.
- How you reached us: the page you landed on, campaign tags in the link, ad click identifiers from Google or Meta, your IP address and browser type.
- Messages and call notes from our conversations with you.
Why we use it
- To give you a quote and call or WhatsApp you about it.
- To check ownership, arrange the pickup and get your vehicle scrapped.
- To make sure you’re paid and receive your certificates.
- To pay referral fees to partners.
- To understand which of our ads and pages bring in enquiries.
- To keep records the law requires.
Who we share it with
- The government-registered scrapping facility that receives your vehicle. It needs your details and documents to issue the Certificate of Deposit and update VAHAN.
- The towing team that collects your vehicle, which gets your name, number and pickup address.
- Service providers that run our website, email, phone and WhatsApp systems, including the service that sends each new enquiry to our team on WhatsApp.
- Google and Meta, to measure our ads. They receive click identifiers and a reference number, never your documents.
- Government authorities, when the law requires it.
We don’t sell your information.
How long we keep it
We keep records of vehicles we’ve scrapped for as long as the law requires. Enquiries that don’t lead to a pickup are deleted within 24 months, or sooner if you ask.
Cookies and similar storage
We store a small record in your browser of how you first reached us, so we know which ads work. If our Google or Meta tags are switched on, they may set their own cookies. You can clear these in your browser settings at any time.
Your rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, have it deleted, or withdraw your consent to being contacted. Email hello@scrapcarwala.in and we’ll respond within 30 days. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update it on this page and change the date at the top.
